I have just recently began tutoring at the Jubilee Reach Center in Bellevue, WA. This is wonderful center opens its facilities and caters its programs to underserved communities. Yes, even in Bellevue, there exist pockets of underserved communities from all walks of life including minorities and immigrants as well.
Working at Microsoft full time and having just joined the Evening MBA program at the University of Washington does not leave me with much free time on my hands. However, my passion on tutoring math and sciences to enable students not only to overcome their weaknesses in these areas but also to like for them is what drives me to tutor 1hr a week at Jubilee. I also love to mentor on what the students on my experiences in the corporate world.
I just began tutoring last week and I will be tutoring two 5th graders. I have a decent background in tutoring, having tutored calculus, electrical engineering and computer science classes while I was an undergrad and then tutoring 8th graders in 2007 at the Midtown Center in Chicago.
The plan is to blog about my experiences to not only share my experiences with other tutors and students but also to learn on how I could improve as well.
I look forward to this journey!!
